We know budgets are tight these days but if you find yourselves considering welcome bags for your guests, we’ve got some fun ideas!

Putting together a welcome bag for guests is the perfect way for you to kick off your wedding festivities! But the real question is: What do you actually need to include in each bag?

Here are ten things we think make up a great welcome bag!

A detailed itinerary

With so much happening in such a short period of time, it’s a smart idea to ensure all guests are aware of your wedding weekend timeline. Include dates and places to be, with contact information included (just not for the bride or groom!) in case anyone has a question. Also, consider adding a local map people can use should they ever get lost.

Local treats

Whether a destination wedding or a celebration in your hometown, think about including a handful of local favorites. Maybe there’s a local popcorn shop that residents favorite or an old-fashioned candy store full of treats. Whatever it is, include a few sweet and savory options for your guests!

Hand sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is great to offer inside your welcome bags. Think of buying a handful of fun scents your guests will actually enjoy using. This little addition is an affordable way to add to your bags.

Refreshments

Bottles of water are a must-have inside your welcome bags. Consider adding a few flavored options like La Croix as well. And, if you’re comfortable serving alcohol, include a variety of mini bottles. If a dry wedding is more your style, opt for a few cans of your favorite pop instead.

Custom door signs

For couples who have a hotel block, custom door signs or hangers are a fun way for your guests to differentiate themselves. You can personalize each sign with names as well as your wedding colors. This way, guests will know if they’re staying next to friends and family.

A small souvenir

Souvenirs such as postcards, magnets, or keychains are a fun way for your guests to remember your wedding festivities. Think about ordering something hand-crafted on Etsy or visiting a local shop to find something different for each bag. Your loved ones will appreciate the thoughtful addition.

Mints or gum

Because nobody wants to mess with bad breath as they’re breaking it down on the dance floor! Mints or gum are easy ways to add to your welcome bags. Consider including a fun note, such as “We were mint to be!” on each package for a little extra flair.

A recovery kit

Open bar or not, your guests will be tired the day after your wedding from all the fun they had. So why not include a recovery kit inside your bags with ibuprofen, hydration multipliers, and stain remover? It’s little gestures like these that your friends and family will admire!

Seasonal touches

If you’re hosting a summer wedding, a hand fan is an addition all are sure to appreciate. Or, if you’re having a winter wedding, consider including small blankets to keep your guests warm. Think about how you can incorporate your season or specific date into your bags.

A thank you note

Don’t forget to thank your guests for coming to celebrate you and your partner. Even if it’s short and sweet, let your loved ones know how much you appreciate them. They’re excited to spend time with you and will love that you took the time to share how grateful you are!
