McKayla
Founder & Principal Planner
Hey, friends! I’m McKayla — the older sister behind Shaded Spruce Events.
I’ve always fit the older-sister role pretty perfectly: organized, dependable, and usually the one with a plan. (Our mom would probably say I was always up to something — I prefer to call it planning.) From the café my sister and I used to put on for our mom at lunchtime to planning my high school reunion years later, I’ve always loved creating experiences and bringing the details together.
I’m a lifelong Chaska, Minnesota girl, and this little town has always been one of my favorite places. I’m also a proud dog mom to Beemer and cat mom to Mercedes, hold degrees in business and ASL/English interpreting, and am fluent in American Sign Language — my favorite language, even though I don’t get to use it as often as I’d like.
Today, I feel incredibly lucky to do what I love most: plan, organize, problem-solve, and celebrate alongside couples as they create a wedding day that feels completely like them.
As the principal planner at Shaded Spruce Events, I’m here to be the calm, capable, detail-oriented person in your corner — the one who keeps track of the little things, anticipates the big things, and makes sure you get to be fully present for the moments that matter most.
Because your wedding day should be about celebrating your evergreen love. And I would be honored to help you plan it.
Megan
Founder & Planner
Hi! I’m Megan, the youngest of the Hatfield sister-duo. My love for nature runs deep as you will often find me hiking, camping, exploring the mountains, and soaking up the sweet smell of pines in the forest. This love was sparked by the beautiful campus I attended university at, where I received my degree in Communications. While this is a big part of who I am, to know me is to know that my heart overflows with love for my husband, Joshua, and our fur baby, Hank the Golden. However, most importantly, my heart beats for Christ – He is my greatest treasure! Because of Him, I love to serve others – which makes weddings such a filling time for me. To serve couples on their big day is such a joy – being able to manage timelines, work alongside vendors and loved ones, and assuring things are perfectly in place is a privilege that I don’t take lightly. I have truly enjoyed all the couples we have celebrated already, and look forward to all the couples we have yet to celebrate!

Hello, I'm Molly & I'm so excited to be a part of the Shaded Spruce Events team!
I LOVE love! From attending weddings, to crying at a Rom-Com, to watching the Bachelor, I'm all about it! There is nothing quite as special as getting to witness love, which is what led me to want to be involved in weddings. After planning my own wedding a few years ago and thinking back to all of the joy from that day, I want to ensure all couples I work with can have that same sense of overwhelming love when reminiscing on their wedding day.
When I'm not working weddings, you can find me during the day being a dietitian in the school system where I plan lunch menus and help kids get excited about what they are eating. In the evenings, I am enjoying time with my husband, 1 year old son and our goldendoodle, Obi.
With a strong sense of organization, an obsession with checklists and a willingness to do anything needed, I look forward to helping couples execute their perfect day that they can look back on for years to come.

Hi, my name is Makena and I am thrilled to be joining the SSE team! I have known Megan and McKayla for many years and had the honor of working with them for my own wedding. I have always loved planning and hosting events, my family and friends have always asked me to help with wedding showers, baby showers and any other event we might be hosting. I have always been known as the one to put together the balloon arch and perfect every detail, good thing my OCD comes in handy!
Over the last few years my life has drastically changed from getting married to my amazing Husband, Jake, to switching career paths abruptly, to becoming a mother to my beautiful daughter Harper, but one thing has remained the same and that is my love for throwing the best party! On top of event coordination, I spend much of my time with family doing anything outside, hanging with our adopted dog Finn, traveling, eating at local restaurants, helping run our family property management business and lastly coaching track here in Jordan!
I can’t wait to help our couples bring their vision to life and help them have the BEST DAY like we did working with Shaded Spruce!

Hi! I’m Kim and I’ve know McKayla since Girl Scouts in middle school and having classes together in high school and I’m so excited to get the opportunity to work alongside her, as well as Megan here at Shaded Spruce Events!
When McKayla put out the call for an admin assistant position I hopped right to reaching out because I knew she would be so fun to work for.
I grew up in Chaska and lived there for most my life and I currently live just down the road in Carver. I have a 17-year-old daughter who has an absolute joy to raise; right after Jesus, she is my greatest treasure on this earth.
I thoroughly enjoy art and creativity and that’s what you will find me doing in any spare time I’ve got. I paint and hand-letter and it is a true passion of mine.

Directors of Barketing
Hank (Golden) & Beemer (Mix) are cousins and they are the creative minds behind all things Shaded Spruce marketing. Super talented but often off task. Hank & Beemer are the beloved side kicks of Megan & McKayla. You should expect to see them in the background of video calls, featured on Instagram, and if you're lucky enough to meet them in person you will probably leave full of doggy gold (hair).
